Lovely picture though the clothes seem a bit colourful.I can remember women wearing a shawl over their head or shoulders but they were always grey.

I think it's called astists licence? I don't think Sid Smith had a bookstall there in 1939?
Hey Ron,
You're right , It is artists license, but if you look at the bottom left of the postcard you'll see that the copyright is 'Smiths of Wigan' therefore Sid Smith was in the Little Arcade for a thousand years, mate. He was there when the Romans landed. Good ol' Sid.
