This is Hallgate with all the buildings demolished for the new, or should I say the old new Bus Station.
If you look at the top you can see what was the back of what was the Bay Horse and a bit of the end part, not quite as deep that I think was pulled down to create a wider access to the Bus Station.

Thanks to Ron Hunt for posting this on my behalf.
The photo was on display in the Relish Wine Bar in Hallgate one of the units in the former Bay Horse pub. Rob allowed me to take this copy along with two other photos.
The demolished end to the side (top right) is slightly out of the picture, Helen of Troy’s grandparents shop would have been on this side of Hallgate facing the Anvil Pub.

I’m assuming this picture is taken mid to late 1980s when the bus station moved from Hope Street. The vacant land looks like a paddock in this picture.
