Yesterday I had some business to attend to in Standish. Whilst there, I had a look at the progress on the steeple. Whilst in the grave yard looking for a certain plot, one couldn't help but notice the vibrant blossom near to the main doors. Couldn't resist recording the view. My thoughts were one lives and dies but the blossom lives on.

At first glance on the small photo, before I clicked on and enlarged it, I thought it was a Chinese/Japanese pagoda building with a blossom tree in front of it! Lovely photo, and yes....the blossom goes on.

It reminds me of the pagoda & cherry tree walk at Kew Gardens.
Good pic Barrie.

Barrie, it is St Wilfrid's not St Wilfred's, Wilfred is a mans name, Wilfrid is a saints name. I thought you would have realised that, presuming you are Moss Grove Barrie. Nice photo nevertheless

Roy, I stand corrected , the brain is fogged due to my Wife's demise last month. That's why I was in the church grounds looking for a possible grave that a sister of mine is buried in during 1944. It's still fogged today is the brain.

Thank you for your condolences, much appreciated. My 2 sisters passed away in 2023 within 8 months of each other. Osa was married in St.Wilfrid's in 1959, Robina attended the Methodist Chapel 1951 because she liked singing and they were the ones who came round Standish on Christmas Eve singing Carols till nearly 1am Christmas Day. Plenty of memories for me born and brought up in Standish. It still has the traffic problems for one.
