What a fascinating photo, Veronica. I could lend that grocer my "4d off Brook Bond Tea" enamel sign. I think those tins either side of him are Huntley and Palmer biscuit tins like they used to have in The Co-op in Ince. They had glass lids and each tin held a different type of biscuit. The assistant held open a big white paper bag and the customer could buy all one flavour of biscuit, or mix them. I could study old shop photos for ages. Thankyou for posting.

I might be wrong but I think the position of this grocer’s shop (number 31) is today occupied by Starbucks, the half that is connected to Santander.
