As we all know it’s not so ‘ grand’ nowadays. It’s awful to go past such a beautiful building as it was.

This hotel was a regular Sunday Night venue when I was courting in the mid 60's. There was a small lounge at the back where my usual drink was WHITBREAD TANKARD? cask beer.
When I went out with my mates on Fridays. We would always call in here. My ambition was to work my way along the shelves, which had bottles of various whiskies. Most I had never heard of.. I don't think I got off the top shelf<g> At that time if you was in a ROUND and asked for a Whisky. The person who's round it was would say 'WHAT A WHISKY!!!' Now its cheaper than a pint.<g>

Is it not ‘ refugees’ who have wrecked it in the first place?

I was in a band called, "Katch5" in the late 70's. We played our first ever gig in The Grand.
