Fantastic! I haven't seen the inside of Ince Public Hall for many, many years; I had forgotten the mural. (or "muriel" as Hilda Ogden would say), on the back wall. I still have some paper Christmas ceiling decorations like the ones in the photo but they are too fragile to hang now, so I just display them in an equally ancient toffee-tin on our fireplace at Christmas.
We had our wedding reception here in Sept. 1973. I can't believe it's now 51 years ago this week end. Where has the time gone?
Been to several functions here, lovely dance floor and features. My Mum and Dad had their wedding reception there in 1949.
I remember listening to a speech by the Labour politician Bessie Braddock in this hall. I think she was standing up on the left of this photo. I don't know why I was in the hall, (nosiness?) It must have been early 60's and I was only about 11 or 12. She was the best orator I have ever listened to . Funny what you remember.
I remember as a child going to Ince Public Hall as the company my mum worked for did Christmas parties were staff were allowed to bring their families.
Last time I went in the Hall was for a 21st birthday party around 2010. I haven’t been up Ince Green Lane for quite some time, but I do recall last time I drove past, the whole building had been fenced off.
Does anyone know what Wigan Council plan to do with it?

The mural, from what I can make out, looks quite large and Italian in character. Quite impressive, should be kept.
