Wallgate

I was going to say is that building now The Moon Under Water but obviously its address wouldn't be Wallgate if it were....it would be Market Place. So it is across the road from The Moon Under Water and did it used to be a bank? Library Street is to the left past the window saying "Outfitters", and Wallgate is to the right, going downhill past the window saying "No. 1 Coop & Co No.1". I think I've got my bearings now! I would never have known that Coop's had a shop at all....I presumed that building had always been a bank.
So is this the building that was for a long time the Midland Bank?
Ron, quite fascinating, I knew Coop & Co had a building in that area before Library Street was created but never know that they had once occupied this building, always thought it was built as a bank.
I have just sent you a recent photo from a similar spot, you will see that structurally it has been much altered but still very recognisable.
I have sent a present day photograph from the same spot, hopefully at some point this will appear on PAD.
One major change is that a cupola has been added to the corner roof, another being that the large retail windows to the ground floor replaced in attractive stone more suited to a bank.
My present day photo now features on Photo a Day.
Please compare the two, I would be interested to know if you consider the structural changes are for the better?
