Is a Gasometre a metric Gasometer?
What a good photo . A great contrast between the foreboding Colditz like building and the gas holder. .
That is one horrible building and a blast from the past, I do remember it and the smells that emanated from there too, with it being the old town gas. I'd think it would also make Wigan seem a very dismal place with folks seeing a view of it from a train, though it does look then to being demolished with the crane and swing ball, so it's good that the photo was taken of it then.
I’ll admit that I had to crack a smile at Bill Bung’s comment .
I frequently make errors with spelling ,
Alexandre being my latest faux pas , but typos apart , making mistakes is part of the learning process ,
and without wishing to appear disrespectful , they can , on occasions be hilarious .
I hope you aren’t offended Michael .
This photo of the gasworks that your father took is unique .
Other views of the same site may subsequently turn up but they won’t be this view . Respect .
It is a very good photo of the gasworks. You could smell it sometimes when passing on the bus.Looks like the end of the gaswork wall.
