A simple mistake to make admittedly , but one that could devalue the currency when it comes to geographic accuracy .
Firstly, Ozy, thanks for another great photograph from the past years of Wigan life.
I will just add some details, which I am quite sure that you don't mind me doing, Ozy.
This is not "Haigh road", but "Haigh View". I believe, this is what you correctly stated, Ozy.
Haigh View is a small area at the end of Kingsway and it was always a ground of dirt and stone, and still is, unlike Monument Road, Kingsway and Springfield Street, it has never been a tarmac road. This (Haigh View) is a cul-de-sac regarding vehicles, but there is a footpath at the end which takes you to the Plantations and the path is still there, because I walked along the path earlier this year. There are only a small number of houses (approx. ten houses) in Haigh View.
That looks like the first house in Haigh View on the right hand side as you walk down. I knew the lads that lived there with their mother.
Lovely family. All great lads and a lovely mother.
Rich. I think that it is.
By the way, T.,M. and D.?
By the way, I forgot to mention that I am quite sure that it is number 1 Haigh View.
Thats them, Ian.
I also knew the family who lived in the house to the right of the photo in the background. Although I'm not sure if they lived there when this photo was taken.
The elderly lady that lived in this house passed away several years ago . Her name was Molly Rigby and she did have three sons although I never knew any of them .
She was the owner of two German shepherd dogs back in the 90s I recall .
Since she died the property has seen two different lots of owners .
Ozy, I didn't want to type the surname. I can't remember which one of the sons is the eldest: it's either T. or M. and they are quite close in age. The youngest is definitely D.
Possibly, the age difference accounts for the reason you never knew them when you were at school, as Rich. said, 3-4 years difference in age is a lot when you're a kid.
