The Regents nick name was' The Kill and Cure '
because of its closeness to Dr Hoey s surgery, later Drs Ince and Mills
Everything looks clean and litter-free.

My grandma lived in the house, you can see, between and pub and surgery. People called it 'KILL'<g>
Opps should have said the house was called AND as it was in between the pub and doctors i.e. KILL AND CURE
Dr Hoey's Waiting room on a winter evening during the war was certainly more kill than cure
Packed with elderly miners with chest complaints seated around a coal fire and smoking, was a suitable anteroom for his consulting room where the good doctor himself was a chain smoker
This was the vantage point for watching the Whit Walks. I can remember my grandma putting chairs out the night before in front of the house. Or,if it rained. I would watch from the upstairs bedroom window.
