Remarkable Dave, like a entrance to a mythological tomb, where is is this?

I lived at Prospect Garage in Standish and there was one in the back garden. Do you remember that Barrie?

Colin it’s hard to describe exactly, that’s the best description above it’s been gated off for years sorry.

This is within the old Ince Moss goods line area, I presume there was Sidings etc around there way back when.

Yes Poet, we used to play in and on top of that one too. Near to what we used to call the Hockey Nets. When we weren't getting chased off the front lawns by Parkie :)

WN1 , I bet you remember the pill box near The Owls .
There was one at the bullet dump too . I wish those sunken buildings still survived. They'd be great to photograph .

Yes I do Poet and the one near the Owls is still there, behind someone's garden fence. I don't know about the one at the bullet dump, i'll have to get the trusty steed out and have a ride down for a look.

The pill box opposite the entrance to the car park for The Owls is not behind someone's garden fence - it is outside the gardens of the new houses. It is fenced off from the road, however - but I think it's still accessible.

Is it an air raid shelter?

Rev Long, the one opposite the Owls used to be quite visible from the road, I too am sure it is still there, It might be ugly but it's a historical remnant of the 1940's to be preserved.
I assume it was there to protect the rear of the munitions factory on Bradley lane from attack by the Nazis marching from Aspull. No offence meant to Aspull but it's just not politically correct to name a country these days for past misdeeds.
By the way I do love Germany very much!!!

It is still there Colin, behind a garden fence as is Rectory Lane. Its not quite as visible as it once was with some sort of wire fencing material around the front of it preventing you getting inside it. I think it should be preserved too.

I used to live in this bunker for a while before I moved to Boyswell House, it was very cold but really handy for work as I work on the railway.
