What where the buildings between the new build and Maltby's on the corner used for and historically?

Colin, they were all part of Maltby's

The Goods delivery and staff entrance was somewhere there, into a yard at the back.

Thankyou both, Maltby's must have been a large enterprise in their hey day.
I remember going in with a friend who's parents had a pub in Standish to buy Finings (Whatever they were?) That must have been around 1968.

Colin, Finings were use to clear beer I believe its made from fish guts? See Wikipedia
Finings are substances that are usually added at or near the completion of the processing of making wine, beer, and various nonalcoholic juice beverages. They are used to remove organic compounds, either to improve clarity or adjust flavor or aroma. The removed compounds may be sulfides, proteins, polyphenols, benzenoids, or copper ions. Unless they form a stable sediment in the final container, the spent finings are usually discarded from the beverage along with the target compounds that they capture.
Substances used as finings include egg whites, blood, milk, isinglass, and Irish moss. These are still used by some producers, but more modern substances have also been introduced and are more widely used, including bentonite, gelatin, casein, carrageenan, alginate, diatomaceous earth, pectinase, pectolyase, PVPP, kieselsol (colloidal silica), copper sulfate, dried albumen (egg whites), hydrated yeast, and activated carbon.[citation needed]
A true story about Finings.. One day back in the late 1950's, me and the other members of our gang, were walking up Worsley St. in Pemberton, toward the The WHITE LION pub at the top of the street, The dray wagon was delivering the beer and we spied a crate of bottles of 'grapefruit juice' We begged the Dray man to give us a bottle which he did. Me being the "BIG MAN" grabbed it first, opened the top, and took a big swig Only to spit it out as it was finings. I was as sick as a dog. The dray men were laughing their heads off. I couldn't get rid of the taste for ages.
