A face as fresh as a Daisy it was the uniform that made them look older but at the same time accentuated how young they really were. It was said ….’they went in the Army as boys and came out if they survived as men’. I bet that old chair appeared in many a photo.
Lovely picture, his family and must have been very proud as I am sure are his descendants. Clearly he survived and prospered and Pendlebury's was a well designed store and frontage and a credit to the town, quality products and good service.
I remember the old store and the fire, would be nice if anyone could post pictures of that store, I seem to recall lovey wood framed windows on the ground floor frontage.
I wonder where the photo was taken? I have a picture of my great grandmother and the chair and backdrop are very similar. I imagine it was a studio in Wigan, of course no way of knowing now if it was the same one.
