Greenslate Road is in BILLINGE, not Orrell.

Maybe they were getting it ready for the annual farmers horse race, from the running horses pub to the the stag at Orrell post.

Colliers Arms Greenslate Road was Orrell. Pub was opposite the reservoir ( now the water park and was demolished several years ago and homes built on the land

I'm afraid you're wrong, Val Bradshaw. Greenslate Road is in Billinge and always has been. The road changes to Lodge Road when it enters Orrell.
In fact, most of Orrell Ressers is in Billinge.

Colliers Arms is actually listed as - Colliers Arms, Moss Road, Billinge, Landlord - Harold Dickinson (1929)
That means the title is doubly wrong. Not in Orrell and not in Greenslate Road?????

Some people don't know what day it is, never mind where they are standing at any given time. I'm sure they just make things up as they wander through life.
There's an ever growing band of newcomers to Ormskirk who insist they have moved to Liverpool?
Never mind. It takes all sorts to make a world.

Some folk don't even know who they are and just make up names. Anyhow it's just as how some folks in Wigan say they have moved to Manchester, and Ormskirk is nearer to Liverpool as Wigan is to Manchester.

Even the postal address there is Greenslate Road, Orrell, Wigan. WN5

Ron spends time and his money in finding these superb ancient photographs for folks to see, and all the few can do is try and nit pick about which locality it's in, they don't even live anywhere near the area, whereas I believe that Val Bradshaw does or did so.
