Item #: 34229
I have been informed it was in Ince.
Great picture Veronica. The car on the left looks like a Renault Dauphine,
The next one is a Wolseley 1500, then a Standard 10, then a Rover.
The Wolseley and the Rover have Lancashire number plates, and the
Standard has a Wigan number plate.
This is in Higher Ince about halfway between Ince Bar and Ince Park. The building is still there.
Thank you Irene.
Ray I posted it for the boys.
The building is still there, next to Westwood van hire, and is currently Cresta Motor spares, 258 Manchester road, Ince.
Is ince bar a pub
It's next to "Just Vans", next but one to Westwood Motors.
Where westwood van sales are, to the right of it.
Thanks for the location Colin, I know exactly where it is now.
next door to Westwood van sales.
Would this be the same Millers who sold motor bikes, originally from a showroom just before Scholes bridge and after that, moved to a showroom on the corner of Scholes and the street just before Scholes picture house going towards Greenough St?
Apparently so, DerekB, and there has been a lot of controversy both on Wigan World and on facebook about it, as the Scholes premises was apparently very much like the Ince one. It was the same company so their shop frontage was probably very similar in both places, as are McDonald's, Boots etc, but the above photo is definitely Higher Ince.
No not the same Millers.
S. Miller motorcycle at Scholes before they moved to the saddle at Newtown, and in Greenough Street was Sam Melling cycles and mopeds.
Before Millers car dealer (above) this building was used by Daniels car sales, they sold one or two American cars.
I remember Sam Melling cycle shop in Greenough Street, not Millers though.
The only Millers I know of is Millers of Wigan, at the Saddle and they also had another motocycle shop in Chorley. But that's not to say Millers weren't at Scholes.
Item number 19715 is very interesting.
i worked at millers motorcycle shop in chorley around 1961.sold the wrong chain to a guy he came back covered in grease threatening to knock my lights out.
