Our neighbour in Highfield Road, Mrs Dickinson, was a friend of Annie Melling and we often went to visit the farm with her.

I can remember going to visit Annie Melling's farm with my parents.It seemed especially magical at Christmas,wonderful memories.
Elizabeth, is this Melling's Farm in Ince near to where you and I lived. near Melling's Flash? The "Highfield Road" connection made me feel it was a different Melling's Farm, somewhere else, as I don't recall a Highfield Road in Ince.

Yes Irene,that's the one I meant,near Melling's flash.i think the Highfield Road mentioned is the one in Hindley,more or less across from Hindley Station where the Dickinson family lived.

i lived on Hemfield Road which began opposite Hindley Station. Only called Highfield at Hindley end.
