Urinal that was located next to the North West Station and the Railway Bridge I don't know when it was removed but I can remember it in the late 1950's

I remember these urinals dotted here and there at strategic locations around the borough. Green-painted wrought iron (possibly same pot of paint as used for the town centre lamp posts) - and they stank to high heaven!

If I recall correctly, the “facilities” were just a slab, drain and hole in the ground, without any cistern or running water to flush away the ‘product’. And where were you supposed to wash your hands afterwards?
