THE CIRCUS COMES TO TOWN

Bertram Mills circus came to town in 1958 and was on Laithwaite fields off Scot Lane. There's a wonderful photo on the album of the circus clowns entertaining the children at Wigan Infirmary. https://www.wiganworld.co.uk/album/photo.php?opt=5&id=33242&gallery=Royal+Albert+Edward+Infirmary&page=5

I remember going to the circus when it came to Pemberton with my childhood pal and her parents. Can't remember much of what went on in the ring.
