The grave is in the churchyard of St Mary Windgate, beside the A59 at Tarleton. He married Nina Mary Hazel Fletcher, the daughter of the Vicar of Holy Trinity, Tarleton (and later Archdeacon of Blackburn) - hence the connection. He also gave some wooden panelling in Holy Trinity church in memory of his parents - the inscription states his residence - Ashfield House, Standish. During WW1 he was Chairman of the Wigan Red Cross - for which he was awarded the MBE.
Note his date of death - 1931 - when Greenalls bought the brewery.
