I'm not sure of the year. Kneeling in the centre (with glasses on) is Susannah Forshaw, I think. Not sure who all the other people are.

I can see Mrs Stringfellow, Alice Phillips, Susie Forshaw, maybe Annie Skyner at the back. I can recognise a few others but can’t remember their names.

Hi Valerie, you have a good memory.
Could the tallest lady with designer hat, 6th from right counting everybody, be Mrs Grant who lived in SLG next to Aspinalls shop?
Is Alice Phillips 1st on left of picture?

Now John, you should recognise Mrs Phillips as you lived more or less opposite. She’s in the middle behind Mrs Forshaw with what looks like a white feather on her hat. I can’t remember Mrs Grant but remember the name. I believe Mrs Piper is on there and Mrs Draper.

We only moved opposite in circa 1966, by which time she had passed? I should and do remember her as she was my Aunty (half) but with living in SLG i didn't see her often. Her husband Jack Phillips was Manager at one or more of the local pits, John Pit I think.
At the risk of being wrong again the lady on the left of Mrs Grant could be a young Janie Piper who lived in SLG and worked at Heinz i only knew her well when she was in her 60;s.
Am i right in recalling you working at Wigan Infirmary and being helpful to my parents? If you have time please don't hesitate asking Ron for my email address for a catch up.

No John I didn’t work at the infirmary. I lived in the first house in “butter row”. You moved into Maggie Browns house.

No Valerie, my parents bought my Grandfather’s house when Aunty Peg couldn’t manage the stairs etc and moved into a bungalow where my mother continued to look after her on a daily basis until she died.

I think Janie Piper was my dads auntie
