This is a copy of part of a double page feature of the town centre which appeared in the Observer in September 1966. It shows the area around Wallgate and the church.

Thanks Paul, nice reminder of my younger days. The cars parked in front of Crawford Street courts remind me that around this year I parked here whilst I did a bit of shopping, the front wheel of my Anglia just touched the newly introduced yellow lines and the traffic warden slapped a ticket on the windscreen. The so and so must have been hiding making a quick dart out of the shadows and no doubt getting all excited at the opportunity to show his authority. Come to think of it, nothing much changes does it !.

Wigginland, exactly the same thing happened to me on Bridgeman Terrace about the same time. I must have been about an inch over the yellow line.
