I remember the sweet stall well with the Payne's Poppets and Sunkist Popcorn. My husband Peter took me to The Ritz on our first date in 1968. I was 15 and he was 17 and we saw Bonnie and Clyde. He bought a box of Clarnico Peppermint Creams at the kiosk shown on the photo and led me up the shallow stairs to the back row seats. He never took his eyes off the film, ate ALL the peppermint creams without offering me one and made me come out before the end because they all got shot! It's a wonder HE didn't get shot! I am still with him!
He sounds like a keeper Irene, :)
Sounds like he had no manners !
I love all these photos, and want to say a big thank you to Frank Orrell,.they are brilliant shots..just brilliant..and bring so many memories back.
Hi Irene , I was 19 and and going out with a girl who was 17 and in her last year at school . When a guy from work saw us together up town he put it around the factory , who then all started calling me a cradle snatcher . I told them she was 17 but they didn’t believe me . It was terrible , I felt like a sex offender .
I think someone else at the factory had seen us when she was wearing her school uniform . Sorry for going off the picture folks . Very Special bunch of pictures Frank , Thank you.
Brilliant photos Frank.Keep them coming lovely memories.
I remember taking the latest "squeeze" to the Ritz on a first date and trying to impress after buying a FILM REVIEW bought a box of chocolates After eating most of them in the dark when the interval lights came up I noticed that they had gone white in parts Anyway I wrote to Cadburys and told them what had happened saying when I opened the box I couldn't eat them as they were white. They send me a £1.00 voucher and another replacement box <g>.
