Geoff...Great picture, The WW2 Bedford tanker is fitted with
a framework on which a canvas tilt can be fitted to make it
less obvious that it was carrying petrol, when fuel was very
scarce, and also the canvas would serve as camouflage.
The Leyland Tiger bus at the rear was new to Ribble, and later passed to Southport Corporation to be converted to an
open topper for the promenade and seafront service.
The big wheel hasn't been installed outside Wigan Tech yet.
The Bedford OYC army truck is a water/petrol bowser from Bedford's O series from 1939, the OYD variant was for general service. An excellent workhorse in any role.
