Wigan Corporation single deck bus in Market place

Another great photo Ron. This Leyland Royal Tiger bus with
bodywork by Northern Counties dates from the early 1950s.
Unlike more recent and more modern single deck buses, the
driver would climb into the cab on the offside. See the
little aluminium footstep,and the cab door handle.
When the driver was sat in the cab,he was isolated from the
conductor and passengers, for to his immediate left was a
fixed glass window.

It is lovely to se the shops again.....Paige's dress shop and Benefit shoe shop. When Wigan was a town full of character.

There is a model similar to this that does the rounds in summer owned by the Wall Family, it is hosed in a workshop in Plat Lane Hindley
