Wigan Album

This area had some of the most beautiful buildings in Wigan (still does)! I was always in awe of the place ...thinking how rich the owners must have been. On Whit Monday we walked around here after congregating on the Market Square -even as a youngster I couldn't help noticing the difference between here and Scholes. I just remember the sunshine and the trees lining the streets in the fifties.

The big house on the left is now Red Rose Dental Practice and still looks more or less the same as the old pic.

I have never understood why buildings such as these cannot be restored as opposed to being replaced. I must be a dying breed,as many on WW seem to prefer the modern build, which what I can see, consists of a square box, with no intention to detail whatsoever. Each to their own I suppose.
