Remember Heller's well, I think it was there till at least the 1980's then another furniture company took over.

I remember doing a job (probably bees/wasps)in rooms above there one time, there was a seamstress business up there and I think they also did alterations etc for the tailors/menswear shop that was just around the corner on Wallgate, anyone recall the name of the tailors.

Cyril, I think the shop you mention was Jackson and Smith, I bought a raincoat from there in the 60s.

Didn't this become Brians another furniture store ?

The 'header' on the posters in the windows reads 'Only 2/- in the £ Deposit', which most likely dates the pic to before February 1971.

Tom, couldn't you have bought it in the forties, then Peter could have borrowed it! (Only joking!). Peter saw Ray in the little car today, but Ray didn't see Peter. How kind it was of him to let us be photographed with the Austin, and we look forward to a ride in it in the Spring.

Carolaen - Brian's was on Wallgate, opposite the Victoria Hotel. They moved there from Mesnes Street circa 1980.
After Hellers closed, Neil Kay and his brother had a furniture shop in the premises. This would have been all around 1983/84.

It was Walmsleys before it became a food place.

As you say Mick the Kay's did have the shop as I went there when the sewer in the Clarence Yard was found to be leaking into their basement, that would have been some time in the 1980s.
