I have this photo in sepia on my living-room wall and I only have to stare at it for a moment before the sepia changes to colours and I am back in Wigan Park in the late 1950s. I am six years old, and I see again my parents, and put my hands in theirs, and we walk together once more through the sunlight of long ago.
Special memories will never fade Irene, I too have photos on my wall and often stair at them with my cup of tea, I seem to go into dream land and disappear 60 odd years back in time. Something I do all the time and feel I'm still there, Great!
Do you think Casinelli's might be open for a cornet?
Same for me, I see this & it is a summer Sunday evening after Chapel, my parents have brought me here' and it was great to be out with my Dad, listen to the Brass Band playing, and walk around. Thank you so much for this.
I go to a place called "Long Ago" where I see the places I went to in the blink of an eye. I see friends and relations and children playing roly-poly.They are like shadows engraved in my mind. I wave to them - but sadly they do not recognise me. Only one girl waves back as I turn around to go..... and I understand why!
Memories are God's gift to us to contemplate what was, in comparison as to what now is, whether it be joy, hilarity, or sadness. It is still a precious gift.
Memories of giving the "toe" a rub on the way in and the saying " Him in't park wit stone Belly"
