Just look how weak and flimsy these glass fibre cabs were, the 3rd axle has a damaged wheel rim and puncher. I wonder what happened that cause this accident?
The back tyre doesn't look too clever either Garry. On the plus side, at least the load never shifted, or not very far at any rate.
The wagon was a Coleclough brothers one based at Wilcock St round the back of where Savoy Timber now is.
I suspect the driver forgot to put the handbrake on.
Have you any more information on Coleclough brothers Fred or Arthur?
I worked for them in the late 1950s as a second man on a ERF wagon and trailer. the driver was Ben Brookwell. We worked mainly from Liverpool docks taking cotton to the mills all over Lancashire.
This is BJA906B, which was a 1964 ERF LV, the cab on which was one of the very first with the vertical handles - built by Boalloy at Congleton before they were all built by Jennings at Sandbach. It received one of the later cabs after this incident and lost the smarter style of livery.
