Yes that's the man I remember
That's a man that loves his Commer.
What a nice chap he was, always smiling. He used to keep hens and every Saturday morning I used to go to his house for a dozen eggs. His wife always had ill health and he looked after her really well. Great to see him again. Thanks for posting.
The van would be parked outside the original Hindley Council offices...I'm I right ?
Garry, Wrong again it is further up Cross St before the
card cabin if I remember right Bob Harrison used to drive
a bin wagon as well D.C.
NO Derick your wrong. The cabbin at the back of the van is not the card shop, its from the market square, so that puts the van at the side of the Council office, but still on Cross St.
I took this photograph. Hindley Council offices were behind and to the left of me Across the road and to the left of the houses was where the ambulance station was. Derrick is right.
Arthur The Ambulance station was on the other side were tesco opening is now, opp the council offices.
Co-op was there before Tesco, anyone remember the gas tank there.
I know where you mean Arthur, you are correct.
Derrick is the card shop still going?
Alex, Good question no it is not it has been taken down D.C.
The Card Cabin moved round the corner so is still there on Market Street just after what was our Library.
The van is definitely parked where the old market used to be, directly opposite what is now Widows Mason solicitors, I checked out Google Streetview, the bay window is the same
