The photo will be early 1950s as steam boats carrying general cargo, such as No.40, would have been taken out of traffic by the mid-1950s.

Is this Wigan?? I cannot identify the 3 chimneys and Mill building. The 3 nearest chimneys to Wigan Pier were Eckersleys, Trenchafield and Miry Lane. and not in line as these are

It's James Mayor & Sons, Boatbuilders.I worked there in the late 50s. I think they closed some time in the 60s. or early 70s. Swan Meadow Rd runs parallel with the building and that is Eckersleys behind.
