I believe this to be the old Ladies Plunge Pool in the 1930's. Interesting way of instructing people how to swim !!!

Mixed bathing took place once a week ,in the ladies pool. It seems so antiquated now ,almost impossible to believe .

My late brother, 19 years my senior, told me that they used to cover the pool and hold dances in the room.

Nice tiling! I get lots of stories from my Great Uncle in Tazzy, whom has fond memories of this place.

Irene. Went to this venue on many a Saturday night,or it may have been Sunday night, the entrance price was only about one,and a tanner. Wasn't there cabins along the balcony, for the ladies, when it was mixed bathing? The only other venue for dancing on a Sunday, as I can remember, was the Parochial Hall, at Platt Bridge

Irene, as a kid I recall going to a few wedding receptions there when the pool was covered over for use as the dance floor.

It was the mens pool that was covered but only in winter for dancing on a sat. Night that was in the 1940's And also the dance hall on Sunday Night was commonly known as Platt Bridge Pro

Yes Enrico, you are correct. It was the mens' pool that was covered over for dancing. Good music to dance to. Buttons & Bows, Paper Doll, Star Dust, and all the Glen Millar tunes. A very enjoyable period to live through, even though you didn't have much money.
