I cannot confirm if this is any of correct, I am told the old lady is my Great Grandmother although I don't know her name, she had a child James Martland, the child's farther was also named James Martland, although its possible they were not married when the child was born. If any one could provide me with any more information about the house, family at the house or the lady or confirm any of the current information I would be very grateful.

A photograph of this very house - Newgate House - has been passed down to me by co-descendants of my maternal great-great-grandmother Gertrude Dale, born Brown (1851-1927). her mother Maria Brown, born Rigby was born (22 February 1830) in this house according to family papers as were all of her many siblings. The house was purportedly built by an ancestor William Rigby in 1707 and was inherited by his great-great-grandson Thomas Rigby (born Newgate House 1789). After his death the house was sold c. 1857 to Dr John Rigby of Chorley (a distant relative?).
Maybe this lady is Elizabeth Ann Rigby born 1863 married James Martland 1901 and died late 1937.Lancashire online parish has a baptism record for a James Martland 1893 son of James and Elizabeth Ann.
Baptism: 14 May 1893 St Thomas, Wigan, Lancashire, England

Born: 5 Apr 1893
Abode: 3 Caroline St.
Occupation: Publican
Baptised by: R. Tebbs, Vicar
Register: Baptisms 1885 - 1927, Page 100, Entry 795

That's fantastic guy's, thank you so much, i gives me a good start on part of the family tree I've really been stuck on.
Hmmm still stuck on this old lady, not found any firm information on her if any one has any more clues on who she is I would be very greatful. Thanks
It has been several years since I last posted here and I now a lot more, The lady in the picture outside the House is Margaret Rimmer Nee Martland. She was Married to Mr John Rimmer but she had My Great Grandfather James Martland out of wedlock before she married John Rimmer.
If any one has any further information or pictures of the house I would love to see them. my email is attached please feel free to email me.
I'm looking to contact a Mr Baggaley, I believe he now has the bible that one belonged to Maggie (Magaret) Rimmer of newgate farm.
If anyone know's Mr Baggaley or Mr Baggaley see's this I would be extremely grateful if he would contact me as it would mean a lot to me to see pictures of the writing inside the bible as Maggie was my Great Great Grandmother. in return I can share copies of several photos I have of Maggie and Newgate Farm.
Thanks Ellen
