Not sure when but that looks like the Fox.

Yes, it is the Fox. The house where the men are standing and the vertical flags outside the houses on the immediate right of photo are still there.

I understand The Fox has closed down recently, two other old pubs in UpHolland, The Owl and The Old Dog both sadly closed last year.

I've just had a look at this spot on google street view and was amazed at how much higher the road is today than then. Looks to be about 12-18 inches higher now using the walls and vertical flags as a guide.

Hector Gee, the Aussie, who played many years for Wigan RL, once kept this pub.

the Fox is being refurbished and will open on 28 November 2013 which is great news.Interesting to see the building next to the Fox at the corner of School Lane its long gone but nice to see how the village has changed through the years. The cottages to the right are still going strong even the flagged wall.Does anyone out there have any more old photos of Roby Mill/Walthew Green?

Where was the King’s Head in Roby Mill? Henry Anderton a mine owner lived next door.

I think my ancestor Thomas Latham lived at the Kings Head on the 1861 census. From the flow of the census it appears to be on the opposite side of the road to the Fox Inn somewhere around the Catholic cemetery

My x3 grt grandparents Thomas latham and his wife Ann had the Fox in around 1850 also his son Hugh latham helped run the pub and his family
