Comment by: JAMES HORNBY on 3rd May 2012 at 07:36

is this what they call the 2 mile stretch ?

Comment by: Mick on 3rd May 2012 at 11:00

It is now Winstanley Road, running from the Station Hotel at Orrell, to Windy Arbour, and incorporates the 'two mile stretch'.
Unless I miss my guess, this pic shows the houses on the corner of the drive to the present day Orrell Red Triangle cricket ground.

Are these houses still standing. I can't fathom out where this is

Houses are still standing, Warrior.
Numbers 105 to 115 Winstanley Road.

These houses are on the right coming from Orrell next to First Friends Nursey. The next block are backing onto the cricket field.

I stumbled on this page - my parents still live on Winstanley Road - these houses are still there and ORT is behind these houses -

Does anyone know what year this is or have any more old photos of the road? I believe the first block of houses you can see is 105 - 155 and the houses in the distance are 85 - 97

Why is it called 2 mile stretch. When it's not 2 mile
