A rare gem for ww album,Dennis.I see the words Millards or Willards on the wall to the left,I can only find the name Millard in the Wigan 1869 Directory,anyone any clues.

which Dog and Partidge is it
It's taken by J.Cooper one of, if not, the first photographer in Wigan There are quite a few more on the site. Not the best quality, but they were taken in the 1870's 80's when photography was in its infancy.
Pemmer - the pub is now called 'Last Orders'. Originally 'The Dog and Partridge', then altered to 'The Bee's Knees' in the late '70s, then to 'Last Orders'.
It looks like it says 'saddlers' on the building on the left edge of the picture
I couldn't figure this photo out at first but now can see where the last orders and the betting shop is now. Brilliant photo

A friend from old motorbiking days was asking which pub was the venue for the first meeting of Wigan Auto Club. This was really a motorbike club brought into existance by Alan Rogerson and his brothers.I couldn't remember but this was the place it was next to the Post Office in those days.
