I have a suspicion who the gentleman on the left may be but a date would help. Have you any idea Mr. Greenwood?
My mother's great grandmother Annie Peace, lived here until 1892, she was married to Maskell Peace, a Wigan solicitor who was Wigan's Town Clerk for many years and a Steward for the Haigh Estates.
And William Peace was mining agent to Lord Crawford, an important family indeed.
The passenger here could well be James Carlton Eckersley, although a longshot. He took up residence here once his father passed away in 1892 at Standish Hall, the same year this Annie Peace also died.
If i'm right, we are looking at a very rare photograph of Mr. Eckersley as the only one I'm aware of was on his obituary. It can be seen over on www.wiganhistorysearch.co.uk
Sorry Andrew, no more information. Photos acquired from a friend. Some have writing on the back, unfortunately this one doesn't.
Maskell Peace was the cousin of my graet grandfather Samuel Peace of Bolton. Do you have any information about him, I would be very graetful.
Thank you
Oh dear just seen my last comment... I do know how to spell GREAT and GREATFUL.
