I knew a Bill Eatock years ago worked at Reeds not you by any chance

Comment by: John on 13th March 2011 at 20:12

It's just an advertisement baloon for the new houses that were being built.

Never worked at Reeds, Dougie. I used to work at Singers in Market Street, Wigan. Servicing and selling sewing machines.

Comment by: Bill Eatock on 13th March 2011 at 23:50

Not an advertising balloon, John. It was an airship returning home after televising a rugby match at Central Park. It was hovering around most of the day.

Thanks for your reply Bill, its just that I worked with him before I finished work and he came from that area

I wonder where the Bill Eatock you worked with is now, Dougie? Be interested to know as I'm researching our family tree.

In the early days Sky TV use to film Wigan Rugby from a balloon, it was called eye in the sky.

Thanks, Moz, that would be great. Obviously I won't go pestering Bill. Its just a matter of trying to discover if the Bill you knew is in the same family tree.
