What a gorgeous picture this is. Not only the steam train which in itself is pure nostalgia but there's the parish church in the background (which shows that it is indeed in Wigan) and for good measure, there's the Hippodrome in the background, a place where we used to go once in a while as a special treat when we were kids.
Beautiful!

Lyn, do you remember the footbridge that went all across the goods yard from North Western to King St? One day around this time I was on my way to the baths on this bridge when I saw some activity in the stock pens that were on the far side almost behind the County. Before I realised what was happening a cow was shot and dragged into a truck. Nearly put me off mi dinner! Don't worry it had one last cigarette and was blindfolded!
