The Hindley Squad of the 2nd WW Home Guard (including my Grandad, Henry Winnard). No mention on the site, but the Hindley Home Guard attended in Liverpool on the many docks bombings.
I think the man on the back row right is my father Orrell Darbyshire we lived on Atherton Road Hindley Green opposite Bolds farm

Dont listen to Sean and above all, don’t tell him your name John.
But look John, Orwell Darbyshire is not a common name and I wonder if your Orrell Darbyshire is the same Orrell who graduated in physics from Manchester University in 1923. If so then I’d just like to say that I have a reasonable photo of his graduation group, scanned off a 5x4 glass plate if you don’t have a copy in family albums.
