This is another picture relating to recent submitted photos of the farm on the Higher Ince/Hindley border. It was a photograph that my dad, Jim Orrell, had. His mother was Annie Orrell, nee Leach and the people on the picture are probably Leaches with relatives and helpers during the hay harvest in the early part of the 20th century.
We have an Annie Leach in our family tree born 1880 Her eldest brother Richard Leach (b1866) used to farm at Lightfoot and Low Hall Farms. Lightfoot farm was subsequently farmed by his son my uncle James Leach from about 1950's. I was born in Lightfoot farm in 1946 but soon moved to Norfolk. Used to visit annually through 1950's).
Richard's eldest daughter born 1885 was also an Ann.
I will explore the picture further.
The two main people ( those with pitchforks) in the centre of the picture are almost certainly Richard Leach and his wife Bridget(née Tobin). They farmed at Low Hall Farm on Amberswood Common from sometime between 1901-1911 through to 1940's. The others will include several of their children but have not been identified
