On left, open topped electric tramcar no 28 run by South Lancashire Tramway Company which ran from Atherton to Haydock.(Tramway opened 20th Oct 1902 and was extended to Hindley Feb 1903 and from Hindley to Haydock in April 1904).On right a steam tram and trailer which ran from Hindley to Wigan and was operated by Wigan Corporation. (Used Steam trams operated from 1882-1904)

Hi charnock, I notice these recent photographs are from the book on Hindley Just a question, what resolution have you scanned them? When I scan a picture from a book I can't get rid of the pixilation.

I scan mine and then use picasa to edit them, you can straighten and alter colour or not, I notice that no detrimental remarks have been made regarding copyright about these scanned photos, I was told in no uncertain terms that I needed permission to use scanned photos, not to worry, keep um coming, the more who see them the better I say.

I can see what was my grandma aspeys house the shop next door was Jonnys barber shop but it belonged to my grandma at one time
