Steam tram loco and passenger trailer.Trams built by William Wilkinson & Co, Swinley, Wigan.Tramway opened in 1883 using horse power. Steam power took over until 1904 when the line was converted to electric.

My maternal great grandfather James Gorrie (b.1854), so the family history goes, was one of the first (if not the first) to drive one of Wigan's electric trams.
