This huge bonfire was being built at Abbey Lakes in 1937 to celebrate King George VI coronation, by the council. You can just see UpHolland Church in the background.

My husband Maurice says the bonfire was put up by the Baxters,. in the Donkey field. The baxters had the shop at Upholland before it was Dingle Bells .
