One of the first photos of George Formby pictured at Upholland Agricultural show at Upholland in 1910 he was six years old
my dad told me when i was a nipper he went the same school as George and Goerge used to come to school on a pony

Thanks,Gerry for this--Ilive in Ontario,Canada now and nobody would ever believe me that George Formby was from Upholland; I guess they will now !

George Formby wasn't from Upholland. He was born at 3 Westminster Street, Scholes, Wigan.

Would this show have been at Orrell RUFC ground. The fence behind the stand looks like railway sleepers. The Carnival was held here after the walking day processions from Wigan as I remember. Info anyone.

It isn't Orrell RUFC as they moved to Edge Hall Rd well after the Second World War
