My mum Doris Pruden used to live in the lodge to the rectory in the eary 30's.As a little young girl she used to collect and deliver the papers to the rectory. Mr Kitchen was the gardener and she remebers all the lovely fruit growing in the greenhouses. Any photos of the lodge from that period?

The Owls restaurant, opened in 1974, stands on the site of what was the home of the Rectors of Standish from very early times until 1938.
Rebuilt by Rector Hutton in 1887, it was a considerable mansion set in its own grounds, and in addition to the main house, there were stables, staff cottages, gardens, tennis courts and a lodge.
Until 1951 sports for the children were held in the grounds at the conclusion of the annual Church Walking Day procession.
