i lived at 8 teck street in the sixties, still see alot of ex tekkies!not many pics of the street left now though.
Per the 1881 census, my great grandparents lived at 7 Teck St. in Wigan, then in the 1891 census at 22 Cambridge St.
my great grandad and great grandmother lived at number 5 teck st thomas and mable parkinson great grandma died 1919 at that address
As a child, my grandfather, Thaddeus Begley, lived at 6 Teck St. per the 1891 census.
Lovely to see comments about past families and residents of big and little teck st, unfortunately it doesn't exist any more it's covered by st Patrick's infant school
What used to be called Cambridge st is now called st Patrick's way, with a small st across Darlington st is still called Cambridge st. I would love to know how teck st got it's name and came to be.
The late Queen’s grandmother was Princess Mary of Teck she was the daughter of the German Prince Francis of Teck he married Princess Mary a cousin of Queen Victoria. She was the only daughter and she married Prince George who later became George the V. His reign began before the First World War after Edward the V11. George died in 1936 and Queen Mary died just before her granddaughter Elizabeth became Queen in 1952.
So the name Teck is a place in Germany.
