May I thank you both for those appreciative comments. I can tell you that I came across this photo on the website some 15 years ago submitted by Graham Parkinson (Item #: 14451) and I was intrigued because it was quite dark. It was a challenge but I was delighted to see how it turned out, far, far better than I imagined it would.

You have done it again Keith, brilliant.
I’m not sure if the building was still there in the 1950’s if so I must have walked past it thousands of times without taking notice.
One of our neighbours in Douglas Street, Jimmy Walker had a Cobblers Shop on that side of Millgate but it might have been further down towards the Baths Hotel.

Colin, I was born in 1948 and lived for the first part of my life in my nan’s shop which is the one in this photo next to the Woolpack. I remember it being there until the whole row was demolished to make way for the then new Civic Offices

I do remember these buildings but I can’t remember when they were demolished though. I used to go to the old, old baths a lot that’s why they’re still in my memory. Perhaps they may have been some of the first to go.
