An amazing comparison Graham. I remember it being more leafy when I was a child.
Graham, if Woodfield School was on the right, where would St Clements Road be on the left, in relation to the photo ?
This is taken lower down near the infirmary The lodge is now where the top entrance/exit to the hospital is.
I thought the same Ron judging by the stone wall bordering the Haigh estate? Was the building on the left Bank House?
Thanks for correcting me Ron. I think I know where you mean. Is it in between the Plantation gates and Marylebone looking towards the Cherries?
ANDY THE ELUSIVE BANK HOUSE!!!! WAS A LARGER BUILDING AND A BIT HIGHER UP. AND SET FURTHER BACK FROM THE ROAD.
Both photo's are taken from just along from the Cherry Gardens looking up Wigan Lane.
The first road on the left is St Aubin's Road and the building on the left on the corner is Forbes Hotel and Restaurant, it used the be The Belair. St Clements Road is the next road up also on the left.
In the older photograph you can see the gable end behind the trees which was probably a private house at that time, on the new photo you can see the hotel extension block built on the side.
Hope that helps.
