Made the photo a bit clearer as requested.

Looks as if this photo was taken in the 1920/30s. Some very young children so not likely a school photo, wonder what it was all about ?

The original photo was quite dark Helen. The person who posted it asked could it be made a bit clearer. I think it’s Graham Parkinson’s photo. I’d say the children look like little rascals all from the same street.

There is a photo taken in Bird Street, Ince, which is very similar, and makes you wonder if a street photographer went around the local areas for a few days, gathering the children for a photograph; it must have caused great excitement! I also have a book by Robert Roberts, "A Ragged Schooling", showing a similar photo around 1920, but in Salford, with the bigger girls holding up the babies they were probably looking after; there were big families back then and the older girls would have been given responsibility, particularly if their Mothers worked at the mill or factory.

Irene. Is the Bird Street photo available? My father grew up in Ince and I’m wondering if he might be on the photo you’ve mentionedl

Yes, it's on Album. Graham. Scroll up from here and there is a list on your left separating photos on Album into categories....Walking Days, Schools, Places, Street Scenes, Work, People,Sports and Assorted. Click on "Street Scenes "and an alphabetical list appears on the screen. Scroll down to Ince and click on it and pages of photos appear. The photo is about halfway down the first page of photos that appears, on the left. The person who uploaded it labelled it 1940s but other people seem to think it is more 1920s. I was going to try to upload it on today's photos but I'm not the brightest star in the sky when it comes to uploading photos, and I thought Admin may not allow it as it is already on the album. Hope you can find it with my sketchy instructions!
