Hope you don’t mind Ray but your photo is emblematic of the 60’s. It also reminded me that as a teenager I and a friend also embarked on a trip to Scotland in 1963. We were rather more fortunate and had the use of a car. Its reg. was also HEK (588).

I don't know where this location is. Looks like a Lambretta scooter HEK318 registration. HEK705 became the most famous double decker Leyland bus in Wigan, not in its early years but in its later years especially after 1978 when all other ex Corporation buses had been painted in GMT orange and white livery from 1974, HEK705 was the one chosen to remain in old Corporation maroon and white and was fleet number 57 that belongs at Manchester Museum of Transport.

I had a 1961 moped HEK100 was the reg. Wish I still had that reg for my car. Wigan reg were EK and JP.
